Meals at School Program Pictures

Here are some new pictures we received Thursday, January 30th, of our students at Sua Elementary School.  We love being able to provide enough food for these children so that they can focus more on their studies and be happy, and eliminate their fear of hunger.  We thank you for your support in these efforts.

Letters of Appreciation

We received sweet letters of appreciation from the students of Sua Elementary School for building them a new kitchen for the Meals at School Program.  This kitchen has helped the mothers prepare meals in a cleaner and more comfortable environment.  No longer do they have to wade in flood waters and struggle to build fires outside to cook with.  The Sua Elementary School now has a small kitchen in place where all the meals can be prepared and cooked in a more efficient manner.  From the bottom of our hearts, we thank all of our participants/donors in making this goal a reality for these children.

New Kitchen

For almost 3 years now, this is where they cook the daily meals for the 346 pupils of Sua Elementary School.  Starting Monday, January 6th 2014, Give Children Hope, with the help of Derek and Teri Salway, has provided a new kitchen.  One where the parents can prepare comfortably the meals...free from floods during high tide and free from rainfall during the rainy season.  Thanks Give Children Hope, Derek and Teri Salway, and to the Coopers- Don Sr., Don and Cathy, and to Dr. Doug Cooper for your help.  It has already made a huge difference in these parents and children's lives.

Happy New Year from the Philippines

Dear sponsors and friends of Give Children Hope,

We hope you had a very wonderful Christmas just like we did. Despite
of the many overwhelming events that happened to our country before
Christmas, every Filipino shared the love and made every one happy.
Random acts of kindness filled that day. Some had a simple celebration
and some spent "more". Most of the private and public companies have
cancelled their Christmas parties and chosen to donated their party money
to the victims of the typhoon. Those really are loving acts of kindness.

This year will be another special one for the children and parents
of Sua Elementary School in Camarines Sur. A new kitchen will welcome
them as they open the year and go back to school on January 6, 2014.
As we have reported previously, this is a project so that the
volunteer parents will have a cleaner and a more comfortable place to
prepare the meals for the everyday feeding. They used to prepare the
food outside and they got wet in the rain and the area got flooded.

The children have been very blessed because of your continued
generosity. We see the smiles everyday and this has brought a positive
change in the lives of the children and their families. And as we end
this year, let me share with you what Lyka Agravante is thankful for;

"Thank you for the help that Give Children Hope has been giving us.
The Meals at School Program gives us healthy bodies and we don't have
to spend money to buy food which is a great help to our parents"

From all of us here in the Philippines, we thank you for this very
blessed year that you have been given us. We are so privileged to be
the recipients of your donations to Give Children Hope.

We pray for your good health and happiness and we hope for this year
to be a very blessed one for you, your families, and to all your
endeavors.

Devastating Typhoon Hits the Phillippines

November 7th, the Phillippines was hit by a huge storm, Typhoon Haiyan, with winds reaching as high as 115 mph.  It is reported that approximately 10,000 lives were taken tragically, and many more people  affected.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to our filipino friends and the children of both the Maravilla and Sua Elementary Schools.  They will need our help especially at this point to help them overcome this horrendous obstacle.  If you would like to help in any way, your generosity will be much appreciated and put directly towards assisting our children during this time.  May God be with them and we thank you for all your continued support.

October Letter From Kristina Sunico-Nobles

To our Dearest Sponsors and Friends of Give Children Hope,,

We hope that everything is doing well with you and your families.

Children had their vacation about a week ago and they are ready for the summer vacation. Some graduated from elementary school, where graduations were held prior to the coming Easter. It was a very beautiful scenario to see the children go up the stage and receive their graduation diploma. Parents are undeniably very overwhelmed by these events in their children's lives. I can still remember the feeling I had when I graduated from elementary school as Salutatorian, I was then a sponsored child by Give Children Hope. I realized then that being poor is not a hindrance for a child to finish school and graduate with achievements. I am very blessed also to have “Give Children Hope” play a big role in helping me get through elementary school. I was so overwhelmed at that time while delivering my speech thanking all the people and my family in helping me achieve my dreams.

I know that your sponsored children in Maravilla and Sua Elementary Schools will be in that same situation sooner, I know how it feels to be able to finish a milestone in your life and especially if you have done with your sacrifices and the sacrifices and love of the people around you. It is so lovely to see a sponsored child graduate and receive his diploma. I was so happy at that time while writing letters to my sponsors of how happy I am during and after my graduation ceremony. I know that you will be very happy to see your sponsored children graduate sooner.

As we all celebrate Easter Season, allow us to thank you for all the help you have been extending to us. The Meals at School Program of Give Children Hope is being sustained through your generous donations. It continues to feed more than 600 elementary school children every day from Maravilla Elementary School in Iloilo and Sua Elementary School in Camarines Sur. It continues to supply them their critical meals every day. It helps them and their parents develop a sense of responsibility as they also help in preparing all the meals for the day.

Let me show you here one of the graduation pictures from Maravilla Elementary School. You can see the rest of the pictures by visiting Give Children Hope on Facebook.

May you have a blessed Easter and we extend our love to you and your family.

For the sponsored children,
